Retouching

Some people think of retouching as some kind of “cheating” and a newfangled practice that emerged with digital photography. This notion, however, doesn´t hold up to scrutiny.

First of all, photographs have at all times been retouched or altered in one way or the other. The masters in the old days used to meticulously scratch areas from the negative (for example to erase uneven skin) or actually painted on the printed picture with a very fine brush.

The reason for this is quite simply that photographs do not show people the way we see them, but in a different - and often harsher – way. Would you notice the little pimple on a radiant bride, or the shadows under the eyes of a charming conversation partner? Whereas nobody would in normal circumstances, in a photograph you inevitably would.

We will not re-model your whole face and figure, stretch your legs and even out your skin until it looks like plastic, in the way stars and models are often depicted in magazines. But by removing or lessening slight blemishes, we will bring out the beauty or charm that, as we believe, each person has.
